From a now dark, cooler, breezy MO,
This has been a quiet day for us. The girls slept well last night and even after their early morning trip outside, joined me in bed and I didn't hear them until 7:30 - and I think they heard Jim coming from the basement.
Jim fixed a cheese omelet for us this morning for breakfast. It was quite edible.
We have done two chores today (other than a few errands) - the first was that Jim cleaned the sliding glass windows while I worked on the front room windows. They were quite dirty from the dryness we have been experiencing. The second project was to give the girls a much needed bath. I am not sure they were so dirty, but the odors had crept in and we needed some relief. They are now silky and smell divine!
Jim received a disturbing call this afternoon from a former pole vaulter that another past pole vaulter had died early this a.m. The "informant" didn't provide much in the way of details - am thinking he was in too much of a state of shock to tell us. Pat dropped by this afternoon and was able to provide us a little more information - and then later Margaret Vance called. Chris Earley died this morning in KC. Chris came through the junior high after I had retired so I didn't know him until I met him at pole vault practice. He was really quite a character and seemed to like all of those around him - had plenty of hugs and smiles for his team mates. We had also enjoyed watching him wrestle while he was in high school. He seemed to think a lot of Jim. So sad.
We have watched the KU/Texas basketball game and during commercials switched to the Olympics. Just a quiet day for us.
Be safe.
