Tues. Aug 1
From a hot and muggy MO,
This has been a more active day that I anticipated. The girls and Jim seemed to sleep and doze well last night. I took the girls out about 4:00 and didn't hear them again until Jim rousted them about 6:00. I decided I would go on and walk and somehow made the route. I wasn't that tired, but certainly soaking when I returned home. This time I let myself cool off before showering (actually did a Shah job and stood over the a/c vent).
After I had eaten, Jim decided that the girls area of the backyard needed to be mowed - now why couldn't he have told me that before I showered. I got that job done - took maybe 5 minutes, but was wet again and of course had lots of dried debris on me - then started the push mower and did a quick job on a couple of small areas in the backyard. By then I was really soaking wet.
I did errands this a.m. and eventually Jim went with me to HyVee for some "senior discount" grocery shopping.
We dozed this afternoon and then I met some of the ladies about 4:00 at our new coffee house for a cool drink. Helen had come down from Princeton and that group was considering playing some tennis - I think they are crazy with the heat being about 100.
We delivered the wedding gift to the Lair's home this evening and spent about 30 minutes visiting with them. Turns out that Jim and Mike read several of the same authors.
Jim has a big Wednesday a.m. - first he has rehab and then will probably join the second breakfast group. I don't even want to think about the topics discussed with this group!
I need to do a few errands and have found a few more grocery items to warrant a trip to HyVee to take advantage of their second day of "old geezer" discounts.
We may be getting some storms tomorrow afternoon and evening, but the track of the storm hasn't been determined yet. I am looking forward to the cooler temperatures and we certainly need the rain. One of the KC stations was mentioning the range of "zero" to three inches.
Be safe.
