Dec. 15, 2008 - Jan. 1, 2009

From a very tolerable (weatherwise) MO,

We have had snow and ice since I was last on this blog. A young man came by after the large snow and asked if we wanted our driveway (double wide) cleared and when I suggested a price, he eagerly accepted. He hand scooped the drive and did a super job. We suggested that he come by again after the next snow.

We have seen some boys' high school basketball games in December - both home and at Trenton. We have never been in the Ketchum Center (at the junior college) and were quite pleased with the layout. Both nights were 8:30 games and that has been my bedtime for the past couple of weeks so I have really been dragging on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

I continue to do the Mobile Meal envelopes on Friday and even did the Monday computer work on the 29th as the others were out of town.

We went to Liberty earlier this week to see Jim's E,N,& T doctor. The hearing in the ear that had been so bad in September was much better so unless there is a major issue, he will see her again in July.

We spent Christmas Day at Princeton with Stan, Helen, Ron, Mary, and Emily. The food is always great and the company even greater. The guys were getting so carried away in the front room after the meal that we thought we might have to take a scoop shovel in to clean up the floor.

We spent New Year's Eve with John and Sandy. The latter had made an excellent Caesar salad as well as spaghetti and meatballs. I contributed a cheesecake and garlic bread. Jim took a bottle of the wine that Doug and Dara had fallen in love with while they were in Washington this past summer.

Tomorrow we are monitoring friends who are having colonoscopies. They are insisting they are driving to the local hospital since they have to check in by 7:00. I do the envelopes in the morning (and deliver them to the hospital) and will spend time with them at the hospital until it is time for them to be dismissed. Jim will drive their truck or car back to their home and I will follow in our car. They are adamant that we don't need to stay with them the rest of the day, but you know how bullheaded I am so I will be there - reading, crocheting, and dozing.

Tomorrow evening we will be watching the Texas basketball game and beyond that we don't have much planned. Jim will continue having physical therapy until he sees the doctor on January 26.

Gas is $1.54.9 here and is in the $1.34.9 range in Kansas City so I am guessing we will make a trip to KC and then fill up as we are leaving. The filling stations evidently have their heads together here as ALL are in the same category for gas prices. I find it very irritating as I am sure the tanker has been to all the places in the last month - after prices were already lower in KC.

Be safe.
B.
