Tues. a.m. March 21

WE ESCAPED THE PREDICTED STORM!!!! Thank goodness. The strong east wind is gone and we have maybe an inch of snow. It began with sleet late yesterday afternoon (almost hail - am not sure what the technical difference is between sleet and hail) and then flakes began after 5:00. The ground is just barely covered with snow, but the driveway and front walkway were warm enough that we have not had to do any shoveling. I did get the trace of snow off the deck as it was quite slick and if we get any sun today, it will dry and be safe again.

We've been out this a.m. and bought fencing and stakes to put in a temporary, smaller fenced area for the girls. The wooden fence is still standing, but it is almost leaning on the upright posts that Jim installed (about 30 inches to the west of the main fence) several years ago as he was worried that wind from the north and west would send it tumbling into the housing area just to our east. The girls won't have as large an area, but they can once again use the trap doors to go in and out at their leisure.

Will be back with you later today.
B.
