Wed. Dec. 13
From what has been a sunny and almost balmy MO,
Jim headed out the door about 7:15 to join the first group of old fogies for breakfast - getting me moving (at my request) so that I could head to HyVee. I wasn't sure if Pat would be there, but she hadn't arrived by the time I had finished breakfast.
When Jim returned from his second breakfast, we loaded up the girls and headed our for a couple of errands. The girls had gone with me to HyVee and they LOVE to go!!
Jim decided about noon that he would like to try the quiche at Piece of Cake and off we were again - this time sans girls. The quiche was excellent and he also fell in love with coleslaw - especially the addition of the cranberries.
Jim dozed much of the afternoon and I wrapped goodies for his Christmas stocking. It really wasn't too much fun looking for items this year as I knowingly avoided candy and other goodies that would have found their way into stockings in past years. I think he will still be happy.
I read on DAR essays 5th, 6th, 7th, and maybe 8th grades this afternoon - took about two hours. The topic was the settling of Jamestown. I hope to finish reading the essays tomorrow afternoon as we do the final selection of Friday afternoon.
We headed to Pin Oak this evening for catfish (really a digression of what Jim has been eating) and had a safe trip going and coming back. The hunting area (trap shooting) is located about 20 minutes south of here - some on Highway 65 and the rest on Route Z - we saw deer in at least two occasions going south. We took it a little more slowly coming home as of course vision was even more limited.
I join the ladies for breakfast in the a.m. and have nothing on the calendar for the rest of the day other than the essays. I thawed some ham and beans a couple of days ago so that will take care of supper along with a few muffins.
Tonight's CT carried the obituary for Jim Juckette.
Be Safe.
