Thurs. Dec. 7

From a COLD, but sunny MO,

This has been a full day! The temp was in the low teens this a.m. with a windchill considerably lower. In spite of this, we ended up having 8 at breakfast - Pat, Sandy, Clara, Jan, Johnna Sue, Mary W., Margaret, and yours truly. The talk was fast and furious this morning - of course last week we had ice and the week before that was Thanksgiving. You would have thought we hadn't seen each other in a year!

From breakfast, I went by the mail drop at the post office and left my remaining Christmas cards and letters, on to Velma's to leave trays, checked in at home, then on to Francine's to pick up cookies, and then on to Grand River Inn to help decorate for the annual RSVP Christmas party - refreshments are primarily cookies.

When I returned home, Jim had Christmas boxes loaded and we headed to the post office - and they are now soon to be enroute.

I had awakened about 2:00 this a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep - no fault of the girls - and finally got up. I went back to bed about 5:30, but of course couldn't sleep. I went down for a nap about noon, but had a couple of phone calls so didn't get a great deal of rest.

Since then we have been by the shed and then on to the Supt. office to take my checks for the upcoming three months of health insurance - has gone up to $441 per month! I'll be joining Jim on Medicare in less than two years and that will be fantastic!

I am going with Pat Nichols to St. Joseph on Friday. Some of the ladies are gathering with Mary Willis to make cards in the morning. Jim and I are looking forward to attending the home basketball game on Friday evening. I need to make some Mexican roll-ups at some time during the day so they can "age" for going to the Ross home on Saturday evening. Sandy Ross had called several days ago about the "oldies" getting together. We start earlier and end much earlier than years ago.

Abby is asleep - draped over my left arm. Trixie is in the hallway so she can keep track of us - as well as Jim. Supper tonight will be pork chops and a large sweet potato - am not sure what the green veggie will be until I check the freezer. We have cleaned up leftovers so I am going to have to do some cooking.

Be safe.
B.
