Fri. & Sat. Aug. 25 and 26

From a warmish and humid MO,

We had a good outing to NKC on Friday - Border's, Barnes & Noble, Ted Turner's (where we always enjoy the buffalo burgers.) We arrived in Excelsior Springs earlier than needed (customary for us) and did some exploring downtown. We had never been to the old downtown area (found it because of a wrong turn) and it is rather interesting. We tried to find the Wabash BBQ place, but evidently missed it by a couple of blocks.

We were of course at the stadium early for the scrimmage sessions. Rain and lightning moved in and and the field and stands were cleared. We spent the storm time in the car, but the school made their gym open for the public. I am glad that our team scrimmaged early as we were able to get home by almost dark - would have been earlier except we stopped at Cameron to clean the front window and I went in to get small Frosty's - only to stand in a very slow moving line.

We had a storm go through here last night, but we didn't get much moisture - just enough thunder and lightning to upset the girls (and therefore interrupt my sleep.) We did have little rain early this a.m., but I don't think it amounted to much. It was raining when we were going to walk so we opted to walk the perimeter at WalMart - mainly we were tired and also ended up taking long naps this afternoon.

We always look forward to the Sunday newspapers so that is our big deal on Sunday. If it dries up enough on Sunday, I need to get the riding lawnmower out and hit the high spots.

Be safe.
B.
